Madrid is connected to many other historical sites in Spain by a reliable train network. Fares are reasonable and service between cities is very regular. If you are extending your stay, consider a visit to the historic cities of Toledo, Avila, Segovia, Escorial, or Cordova. Or, consider a longer overnight to Barcelona, Sevilla, or Valencia. All of these cities are easily reached on the Spanish train network.
