Tour to Minho (Guimaraes, Viana do Castelo e Ponte de Lima)

Minho region is one of the most beautiful and historic regions of Portugal. The proposed tour will take the REV participants on a journey trough its most emblematic cities and historic sites.


The participants will depart towards the city of Guimaraes, the birthplace of Portugal which hosted the European Capital of Culture event in 2012.
There they will visit the Dukes' Palace followed by a panoramic visit to the historical center of the city, famous for its ancient houses and narrow streets and considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Next, the participants travel to Viana do Castelo, a city rich in tradition and located in the Lima river between the sea and the mountains. Historically the city was a starting point during the Portugal Maritime Espansion Age.


It is near Viana that the participants will visit "Solar de Merufes" (vineyard), a famous producer of "Vinho Verde" (Portuguese wine), where they will take part on a wine tasting experience, during lunch.


After lunch the participants will continue the tour towards Ponte de Lima, known for its magnificent Roman Bridge, as well as the market, rural farms and beautiful old houses. It is a frequent reference in ancient documents in which it is described as a point of passage of thousands of pilgrims in St. James Way (Camino de Santiago).
At the end of the day the participants will return to Porto.
