REV2013 is the tenth in the series of annual conferences of the International Association of Online Engineering (IAOE) (http://www.online-engineering.org). REV2013 will be organised in Sydney, Australia and hosted by the University of Technology, Sydney. REV2013 aims to have a specific focus that moves our community from a consideration of the mechanics of remote engineering, to the impacts that these systems can have, and how we can innovate in new and novel ways. Papers that address these areas are particularly encouraged.

More generally, the objective of this conference is to demonstrate and discuss fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of remote engineering and virtual instrumentation. With the emergence of the Internet of Things, increasing use of remotely monitored and managed industrial systems, and  growing interest in remote systems in education (particularly laboratories), REV2013 provides an ideal forum to contribute to discussions on how this field is evolving. REV2013 will offer an exciting technical program as well as academic networking opportunities during the social events.

SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE:

Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation includes consideration of topics such as:

-    Remote, online and virtual laboratories, including architectures, pedagogies and applications.
-    Remote process visualization and virtual instrumentation
-    Remote control and measurement technologies
-    Use of networking and grid technologies in supporting remote access to systems
-    Mixed-reality environments for education and training
-    Technical and design issues in remote engineering, including human-computer interfaces, usability, accessibility and security
-    Demands in education and training, e-learning, blended learning, m-learning, and ODL
-    Teleworking environments, including telemedicine, telediagnosis, telerobotics and teleprescence
-    Support for, and implications of, collaborative work in virtual and online engineering environments
-    Telecommunities and their social and/or economic impacts
-    Innovative organizational and educational concepts for remote engineering
-    Standards and standardization proposals in remote engineering
-    Applications of remote engineering and/or virtual instrumentation

SUBMISSIONS:

Consideration will be given to proposals including:
-    Full Paper sessions (peer reviewed)
-    Demonstrations (online demonstrations or lectures from a remote location are also welcome)
-    Poster sessions
-    Discussion panels
-    Tutorials and workshops

Full submission guidelines can be found on the conference website.  Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers or poster submissions by uploading them through the online paper submission system – see the submission link on the conference website: http://www.rev-conference.org/REV2013/.  Authors should use the paper template: Template.doc provided.

Those interested in submitting proposals for demonstrations, panel sessions, tutorials or workshops should contact directly the conference program co-chairs: Euan Lindsay or Steve Murray.

REVIEWING:

The "review-to-submit" model will be employed.  At least one of the authors from each paper submitted will be expected to act as a reviewer of other submissions. This will equitably distribute the workload inherent in reviewing papers.

PROCEEDINGS:

The proceedings will be published electronically (with an ISBN) in cooperation with the IAOE.  Selected papers may be invited to submit an extended version of their paper for consideration to be included in a special issue of relevant journals (including the International Journal of Online Engineering).
