Process Analyzers are crucial for the production processes of the chemical industry. Therefore more and more online analyzers are used in order to get timely information about the chemical composition on different stages of the production process. This includes aspects such as product quality, yield, energy efficiency, production capacity, waste water and environmental control and safety.
Highly available analysis values require automated analyzer systems with maintenance concepts based on asset management.
Analyzer automation and asset management including system self diagnosis with detail visualization provides:
The presentation describes the concept of automation and asset management for process analyzers based on examples and gives an idea of the added value of this concept.
Norbert Kuschnerus graduated with a university
degree in physics from the University of Hamburg in 1978. He received his PhD
in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Karlsruhe in 1984 for
his research in the field of supersonic rarefied gas flows. Joining Bayer in
1985 he worked in various departments as process control systems engineer and
plant engineer. He was head of the Central Engineering group at Bayer in Japan from
1992 to 1995 and worked from 1995 to 2001 in the Engineering department of the business
unit Polyurethane in Germany for projects Brazil, USA, Japan, Singapore and
China
Since 2002, he has lead the Division of Process Management Technology at Bayer Technology Services. He is president of NAMUR (international user association of automation technology in process industries), co-editor of atp and member of the advisory board for the INTERKAMA (leading trade fair for process automation).
